Welcome to the UOS family.
Some 3,500 years ago, Hashem chose Avraham to be a conduit of blessing to the world because he would "command his children after him" so that they would pursue righteousness and justice (Gen.18:18-19). United Orthodox Synagogues of Houston (UOS) is one branch of that family, still pursuing a relationship with Hashem and the world mediated through Torah more than three millennia later.
Being a Family means we do everything as a community: pray, study, gather, celebrate, and even mourn. Our knowledge that we are members of the larger Jewish family guides our commitments to the Jewish people and the State of Israel. Our acceptance of the challenge God has given us, to be a blessing for all peoples (ibid.) guides our commitment to engage in the world as well as our attempts to consistently grow as individuals. Our special agreement with Hashem, the Torah, binds us, guides us, and propels us forward in all ways.
Welcome. We're thrilled you're here.
